RIVIAN

We find our main character searching among dystopian ruins as he uncovers a relic of the past. A glimmer of hope, a reminder of a world that once was. Uncovering the Rivian R1T he embarks on an escape of all he’s known. More than a vehicle, but a vessel to “carry us” to a better future.

My role was to create a photo-realistic post-apocalytpic city for our protagonist to escape from during the climax of the film. This required me to build out a large city grid in Unreal Engine, utilizing assets from Kitbash3D Cargo and Quixel Megascans. I layered in levels of debris and destruction along with moody lighting and volumetric fog to add to the immersion. I also took a Rivian R1T car model and fully textured it in Substance Painter with dirt and wear and tear, then animated it within the scene to move throughout the city. For the desert shots, I created an expansive city skyline that was comped into scene to connect the two environments.
